Countdown to College for Transfer Students

Month Description
October Family Weekend is in October 7 - 9.
October Homecoming Weekend is October 22 - 24.
November Keep in contact with your transfer admissions counselor. This person is available to help you through the college admission process and knows about all the deadlines, forms and important events.
November Research scholarships. Utilize the resources available from your local library, web sites, parents' work, your employer and church.
November Get some great scholarship information from our financial aid web site.
November Thanksgiving break is November 25 - 26. Classes resume on Monday, November 29.
December Apply for outside funding or scholarships. (You'll be busy writing essays!)
December Don't have a PIN (Personal Identification Number) for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)? Then obtain one at the U.S. Department of Education PIN web site.
December Collect family tax information and file your taxes as soon as possible. UST's priority deadline for financial aid is April 1. Be sure to file your FAFSA by this date.
December Christmas break is December 23 – January 2. 
January After January 1, or as soon as you file your Federal Taxes, you should file your FAFSA electronically. The FAFSA school code for St. Thomas is 002345.
January Be wary of web sites or services that charge a fee for financial aid. Filing the FAFSA is free.
January-term classes begin on Monday, Jan 3. 
January Martin Luther King Jr. Day is January 17; no classes.
February Keep in contact with your transfer admissions counselor . This person is available to help you through the college admission process and knows about all the deadlines, forms and important events.
February Spring semester classes begin on Monday, January 31.
March Your Student Aid Report (SAR) will either be sent to you electronically or by mail. You will receive your SAR 1-3 weeks after you file the FAFSA.
March Spring Break is March 21 - 25. Classes resume on Monday, March 28.
March Want to live on-campus? The Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers residence hall tours on Mondays through Thursdays in the spring.
April Easter break is April 22 - 25. Classes resume on Tuesday, April 26.
April If you want to live on campus, make sure you sent in your housing deposit and paperwork.
April Notify in writing the schools you will not be attending.
April Thinking about a major in business? Attend the Business Advantage event. Hear from the Opus College of Business faculty about the opportunities that await you.
May Hold on to your course syllabi in case we need them to evaluate your course work.
May If you haven’t already done so, complete your confirming and housing deposits and paperwork. St. Thomas requires a $200 deposit to reserve a space in the class and a $200 deposit to reserve a space in a residence hall. Housing availability is not guaranteed and is based on the date we receive your housing deposit. These deposits are refundable if requested in writing by August 1.
May Transfer class registration begins and continues throughout the summer.Contact Academic Counseling at (651) 962-6300 or (800) 328-6819, Ext. 2-6300 to set-up an appointment to register.  (You must complete your confirming deposit and paperwork before you can register for classes.)
May Make sure to complete the UST Immunization Form and any other necessary heath related forms.
May Contact your current college or university’s registrar’s office to have your official final transcript sent to UST.
June Visit St. Thomas if you haven't already. Schedule a meeting with transfer admissions counselor, faculty member or coach and take a guided tour.  You can find more information about scheduling a campus visit on our admissions visit page, or you can also contact us at (651) 962-6154 or (800) 328-6819, Ext. 2-6154.
July Review your official degree evaluation. Contact your transfer admissions counselor with any questions.
July Start checking your UST email often for last minute details on becoming a Tommie!

August  Attend Transfer Orientation. Meet your new classmates and professors while learning more about campus life.
September Move into your residence hall over Labor Day Weekend.
September Fall Welcome Week events are held during Labor Day Weekend for new students.
September Fall semester classes begin on Wednesday, September 7, 2011.
